StAMP Brass Weekend

Who is the StAMP Brass Weekend for?

The StAMP Brass Weekend is for young brass players from Fife and Clackmannanshire who play any brass instrument. Join us in the Laidlaw Music Centre for a weekend of music making with new friends and inspirational musicians. We will perform a live-streamed concert that can be watched by your family and music lovers from all over the world.

When is it?

The weekend is 24, 25 and 26 September. The time table is as follows:

Friday 24 September

1800-1900: join a Zoom call from your home to learn about what we will do and start working on our music together.

Saturday 25 September

1400-1530: workshop in the Laidlaw Music Centre, KY169QF where we will rehearse together. You will play with members of the National Youth Brass Band, The Wallace Collection and Fife Brass Bands.

Sunday 26 September

1500-1630: dress rehearsal and final practice

1700: CONCERT live-streamed to YouTube and Facebook

1800: Concert ends

It is necessary to attend all sessions in order to participate.

How much does it cost?

Participation is completely free

What is the concert all about?

The concert is all about Astronomy: we will play music which helps us learn about how light is important to Astronomers and how by analysing light we can understand more about the universe. We will play music written by living Scottish composers, by well known composers of the past, and most importantly, music composed and made by you with the wonderful musicians who will be accompanying you. Members of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland, The Wallace Collection and Fife Brass Bands will play during the concert so you can enjoy the thrill of a live brass band.

How do I register?

Please complete this form here, and we will send final details prior to the weekend. Registration closes on Friday 10 September or sooner if the weekend is fully subscribed: places are limited to 60 participants and are allocated on a first come first served basis. Our maximum number of participants is strictly limited for Covid mitigation.

What can I do to prepare for the weekend?

Some music will be sent in advance to participants. If you play in the StAMP Brass Group, Virtual Band, Cupar Brass Beginners, Tullis Russell Wizards or Clackmannan Beginners Brass you will prepare the music in advance at your regular rehearsals. If you play for another group, you are still most welcome to join us and we would love to meet you!
